Joseph Rebman: Bridging the Gap: A Harpists Guide to Working with Composers and Performing Contemporary Music
Beyond Debussy and Ravel, it is rare for a composer to fully understand the harp. This may lead harpists to feel wary in performing contemporary music, or music by living composers. This lecture will cover two topics: How to work with composers to translate their ideas into idiomatic harp writing, and how to best edit a composition when the composer can’t be reached. This lecture will focus on the harp, but other participants are also welcome!
Open to Institute participants and faculty only.
