(Re)Interpreting the Score
For pianists, composers, conductors, and anyone interested in piano music. We’ll have a discussion about notation, what works and what doesn’t, and clarity of intent, through contemporary piano music. Using examples from key 20th and 21st century literature, as well as some music being played at MMF 2022.

We’ll discuss, among other things:

1. notational do’s and don’ts
2. what works at the piano, what is “pianistic” and what isn’t
3. how to interpret/how best to execute what’s written on the page
4. how to suggest ideas and interact with composers easily
